Not for a fun, hoonable weekend car. I mean as an A-to-B commuter car. Something comfy and capable for the drive to and from work. The interior seems nice in these (even in the previous generation), and they're !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! in the used marketplace. Anyone know whether they're at all reliable?

They're like Volvos, but cheaper!

Yes, I've also been tempted by the S80.

It's a Korean Avalon, so no thanks.

I think they're under appreciated for what they are. I'd certainly buy one over a Lincoln or Acura.

The Avalon is a very comfortable, large, reliable sedan with a great set of options for the price. That's not a bad thing.

Pretty dang reliable. Comfy, roomy, just awkward looking. Good buy, would suggest.

Yeah, I can understand the Camry hate (every one I've been in screams "rental car"), but the Avalon is actually a premium car. It's like a Lexus LS for way less money.

I think the current generation ones are quite sharp and from what I have read from CR and other sources fairly trouble free.

It's a car I'd be very happy with my parents driving... yeah it's sort of a downgraded, FWD LS.

I'm sure they're nice, but I'd rather go for a 2004-2008 Acura TL. Awesome design, great engine, available as a manual (if you're looking for that). Looks spectacular, especially in Type S or A-SPEC trim.

I guess they are okay, but I think the Avalon and Impala are better. I've never driven an Impala, but the Avalon, while not really exciting, is actually a pretty nice car. Comfortable inside, great ride, good on gas, and holy crap it's faster than you think. With that V6, it just takes off, and is so quiet you don't even notice it. So Azera, meh. I'd prefer an Avalon.

Definitely buy a 3G (04-08) Acura TL over one of these if you can find one in the same price range (or even a TL Type S?!?)
Just as much luxury
Better Quality
More Reliable
One of the best manual transmissions (The auto isnt bad either)
Way, way, way, way, better community
More mod friendly
And most importantly.......
.... WAYWAYWAYWAYWAYWAY more fun to drive. This was back when Acura made cars for enthuiasts. One of the best blends of fun/luxury to date.
Just do it.

You would buy one over this?
One of the best performance midlevel luxury sedans?!

Cant comment on the Azera. but we've had zero problems with a 3.8 Gen Sedan, 3.8 Gen Coupe, and Sonata over the last 3-4 years. milege on each are approaching 50k.

My father's had both as company cars, and I found them pretty comparable. The Avalon's a hybrid, too, though I didn't find it particularly economical the week I got to play with it.

I mean I get what you're saying, big comfy toyotas are comparable. but v8 rwd, loaded to the gills with luxury features, longer warranty, lexus dealer experience etc... its nothing like a comparable avalon other than size, comfort, and i guess perhaps like quality of buttons/materials in cabin, and of course reliability. But to me a big floaty rwd v8 sedan is a very different animal than big floaty torque steer crazy FWD v6 extended length camry.
